Catholic Spanish Translations

We help you connect with Hispanic Catholics

Many Catholic ministries want to reach the growing Hispanic/Latino population more effectively but don’t have enough bilingual team members to make it happen.

Our team works behind the scenes, saving you time and energy, so you can focus on what you do best. We translate so you don’t have to!

We have decades of experience in Catholic ministry with Hispanic/Latino immigrants so we will help you communicate in a way that connects with your audience while staying 100% faithful to your Catholic message.

Contact us

Use our contact form and we will follow up by email so you can let us know what you would like to translate, if you have any preferences and the deadline.

We Translate

We will confirm our availability to meet the deadline and our team of expert translators will get to work. Research and proofreading included!

Review & Pay

We’ll send the initial translation for your review and an invoice due 30 days later. Our team remains available for final editing & proofreading.

We are happy to provide a quote specific to your project before we begin. Otherwise you can calculate the cost based on the word count in the original language using the prices below.

We specialize in translating Catholic materials either from English to Spanish or Spanish to English.

$15

/100 words

A translation that is 100% faithful to your Catholic message and tailored to your audience as requested

Our research time.  For example, we will research terms used in Church documents, take quotes directly from the official Spanish translation for any scripture citations or documents from the USCCB, Vatican, Popes, etc.

A custom term list. We will research the correct terms for your ministry area from Church documents as well as any material you already have in Spanish to maintain consistency across all materials we translate. If you would like a copy of this term list, we will be happy to provide you one. For example, here is a list of bilingual terms for Catholic Tribunals.

Source editing. Since we are analyzing every word as we translate, we often notice errors, inconsistencies or unclear language in the original. We will send a marked-up version of the original at no extra charge.

Proofreading.  We will review the translation a second time before we send the final version.

Formatting.  We will maintain the format of the original as long as it is provided in a format we can edit. (For example, Word, InDesign .idml file, PowerPoint)

Final editing. We are happy to make adjustments as needed or take another look at the final document once all formatting has been finalized at no extra charge.

$17

/100 words

Working with Patti on the translation of a large liturgical document was a wonderful experience.  Her blend of translation skills, cultural competency, knowledge of the Catholic Church and ecclesial life made our translation project successful.

I especially appreciated her willingness to dialogue with our team so we got the syntax and grammar just right, and she chose expressions that would resonate with our intended audience.

I highly recommend Patti for any translation project your parish, school, or diocese needs to undertake.

Patti Gutierrez is terrific.  She is accurate and efficient, but her greatest strength is her ability to interpret documents with complicated designs and maintain the document integrity.   She regularly translates complex PowerPoint presentations and is able to think through not just the language issues but also the visual components that ensure readability, and saves back end time on our end having to re-do fonts or layouts.

She is thoughtful about the nuance and often asks important questions to help ensure the desired meaning gets through.  Thanks to her, we are able to ensure Spanish speakers are not treated as second-class participants in our programming but instead are centered in our curriculum and materials.

★★★★★

My work requires someone who is not only a skilled translator, but who is knowledgeable about the Catholic Church—and particularly with the terminology people are accustomed to hearing in Catholic resources. Patti Gutiérrez has been very reliable in that respect, not only providing translations that serve our Spanish-speaking customers well, but also advising us from time to time about English usage with respect to Catholicism.

I started using Patti’s translation services after losing the services of an acknowledged expert in the field who had done work for my organization for decades. It has been a smooth transition, and we knew quickly that we had made the right choice.

I would encourage any Catholic organization that it can work with Patti Gutíerrez with complete confidence in her skills and expertise.

While AI and other machine translation tools can be helpful to streamline processes, they cannot replace the work of a human.

These tools cannot infer the context, are inconsistent, do not do research, do not do well with slang, idioms and other expressions, do not understand cultural differences and nuances, are not creative, do not sound natural, and do not critically analyze texts as they translate.

Our team can help you decide the tone and style you prefer for your project. We can also use a Spanish that is targeted toward your audience based on how long they have been in the U.S., their educational level, and country of origin. We can also make suggestions based on whether your audience are “insiders” who already know your lingo or if more explanations are needed for certain terms.

Having served Hispanics/Latinos in parishes and dioceses for decades, our team knows Catholic lingo like the back of our hand. We have extensive knowledge of Sacred Scripture, Catholic theology, the Magisterium, Church doctrine, etc. At the same time, we know how to communicate with Spanish-speaking immigrants in a way they can understand.

We can usually make room in our schedule to translate 1,000-2,000 words per work day (8,000 words per work week) depending on the complexity.

If you need something quicker than that, need a translation the same day or you need us to work over the weekend there is a rush fee which is subject to our availability.

New clients are asked to approve an estimate for their first project via Freshbooks.

When we send the translation we will also send a W9 for your records and an invoice due 30 days later. Large projects may be broken up into installments.
